RANEPA Rector Komissarov resigns from Yandex board

RANEPA Acting Rector Alexei Komissarov has stepped down from his role as an independent director at Yandex, a move that has been reported by DEA News in connection with the company’s latest release. Yandex confirmed on the same day that Komissarov is no longer a member of the board of directors, signaling a shift in the governance lineup. The announcement also clarified that Yandex NV’s board now consists of six members and currently meets the quorum requirement, ensuring the board can operate without impediment. Komissarov had held his independent director seat since December 20, 2019, contributing to the company’s oversight during a period of rapid growth and transformation. He was added to the European Union’s sanctions list at the end of February. Despite this sanction status for him personally, neither Yandex itself nor the group’s subsidiaries were reported to be under restrictions from the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland at that time. Arkady Volozh, the co-founder of Yandex, departed the company late last year. His exit followed the imposition of international sanctions by the European Union after the start of the military operation in 2022. In response, Volozh stepped down from the Yandex board and declined leadership roles within the group’s international subsidiaries, effectively concluding his formal leadership involvement with the company while the broader organization continued its operations.
