PSB announced the launch of a street basketball center in Kemerovo, marking the second such facility in Kuzbass and the thirteenth across Russia as part of the nationwide All-Russian Sports Project PSB for Children.
Speaking at the opening, PSB’s leadership emphasized the role of broad sports investments in shaping healthier communities. The bank’s president highlighted that the project has already united hundreds of thousands of young people, teens, and adult enthusiasts, encouraging personal growth, competitive spirit, and character development as participants push their limits and strive for excellence.
He noted that a year earlier, a PSB children’s playground opened in Novokuznetsk and has since hosted numerous events at various levels. The facility has become a popular hub for regional residents seeking active recreation and opportunities for aspiring athletes to train and compete.
With the new Kemerovo center, officials expect a continued expansion of local sports activities. The president of PSB expressed confidence that the installation will host more events and inspire both children and adults to celebrate achievements in sports and in life.
The new center offers 3×3 and 5×5 basketball courts with flexible markings to accommodate different formats, along with stands for fans. A gymnasium area with outdoor exercise equipment complements the complex, and access to the center is open to the public. The facility is designed to welcome a wide range of visitors, from casual fans to professional athletes, with an expected annual visitation approaching 250,000 people.
Officials stressed that creating spaces for sport, building robust facilities, and expanding accessible infrastructure remain central goals for the Kuzbass region. The endeavor is framed as a key element of public health and community vitality, ensuring residents have the chance to participate in quality athletic activities close to home. Officials also pointed to the PSB for Children project as a growing draw for those who lead active lifestyles and enjoy organized sport.
At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, attention shifted to the start of the All-Russian street basketball competition Orange Ball, an event linked to the broader PSB for Children program.
The PSB for Children initiative has operated since 2019 with the backing of the Russian Basketball Federation and regional partners, aiming to foster interest in sport and to provide practical opportunities for youth development through basketball and related activities.
