The Russian government, in coordination with regional authorities, should identify priority infrastructure facilities that can be accelerated in construction this year or completed by the end of the first quarter next year. This was the message delivered by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during a meeting focused on economic issues.
We need to select the priority facilities, together with the regions, that we are ready to build ahead of schedule this year and before the end of the first quarter of next year, Mishustin stated. He explained that these projects could span social, transport, and other sectors, all aimed at increasing the quality of life for Russian residents.
Earlier this week Mishustin emphasized that timely action on these priorities could help avert negative trends in the economy. The government plans to concentrate its efforts on ensuring a smooth and steady recovery of economic growth, with a practical emphasis on maintaining stability across key sectors.
Previously, the Kommersant newspaper reported that inflation has emerged as a new risk to the implementation of the Federal Targeted Investment Program FAIP, which pools all construction projects funded from the budget. According to Rosstat, the cost of building materials rose by 19.5 percent from January to November 2021. In response, the government, in consultation with project owners, allowed contractors to reassess the terms of government contracts to mitigate emerging cost pressures and avoid project delays.
