Poland has supplied Ukraine with weapons and military equipment valued at roughly $3.5 billion since February 24, 2022. This figure was disclosed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal during a briefing in Kyiv with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
“Poland has provided Ukraine with weapons and equipment worth nearly $3.5 billion,” Shmygal stated.
He noted that the talks covered joint economic and infrastructure initiatives, including plans to establish four new border crossings between Poland and Ukraine to streamline commerce and mobility for people and goods.
Officials from Poland and Ukraine also agreed on jointly developing defense industry facilities. The partners envision factories operating in both countries, with new production sites aimed at boosting defense capabilities across Europe alongside investments in firms based in Poland and Ukraine. The collaboration is positioned as a broader effort to enhance regional security and industrial resilience.
Meanwhile, on December 13, Donald Tusk was sworn in as Poland’s Prime Minister, with the ceremony held at the presidential palace in Warsaw, marking a notable leadership transition in the country’s government.
Earlier, European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced a forthcoming trip to Ukraine, signaling continuing EU engagement with the region.
