Polish Government Reports 2 Billion Euro Bill for Ukraine Arms Aid Is Being Reconciled with the EU
In a recent interview shared on public radio, the Polish Prime Minister explained that Poland has submitted bills totaling two billion euros for weapons supplied to Ukraine to the European Union. The message emphasized that this accounting is positive for Poland and its national budget, as the funds would enable renewed investments in cutting-edge military equipment.
The description of the aid package includes a range of military hardware and support sent to Ukraine, such as MiG-29 aircraft, T-72 tanks, fourteen Leopard 2 tanks, artillery rounds, and other ammunition. In addition, human portable air defense systems and unmanned aerial vehicles were transferred, with authorities estimating the overall value of aid at about 2.2 billion euros.
Formerly associated with a major Polish ammunition producer, Dezamet, the Prime Minister indicated that production would expand under the European Union’s Ukraine procurement plan. He suggested that the expansion would create several thousand new jobs at the enterprise in the near term, strengthening domestic capacity and the defense industrial base.
On March 23, defense officials announced an agreement within a European framework for the joint purchase of ammunition intended for Ukraine, highlighting coordinated efforts among EU members to secure and supply munitions and related materiel.
Ahead of this development, there were expectations that approximately 240 million euros would be received from the European Peace Facility to refinance arms supplies to Ukraine in the near future, signaling continued financial backing for the assistance program.
