The second edition of the youth historical and cultural forum Origins began on 14 July in Pechory, as reported by Online rosolodezh. The forum drew a diverse group of participants aged 18 to 35, including budding historians, archivists, educators, and digital enthusiasts who bring a fresh energy to the event.
Officials noted participation from over 200 individuals representing 72 regions across Russia, with entrants from the LPR, DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions among them.
Forum leadership welcomed attendees and expressed the hope that visitors would not only deepen their understanding of Russia’s history and heritage but also refine their ability to assess information critically. The aim is to strengthen teaching and training capabilities, helping young people distinguish fact from misinformation while enhancing their pedagogical skills during the stay on site, according to Origins Forum Director Boris Syntin.
The primary partner for the competition was the Russian Military Historical Society. This year, the program actively integrates experts into the training track, enriching the learning experience with seasoned perspectives on historical interpretation and civic education.
“Young people constitute the country’s future, so it is essential to spark their interest in the history, culture, and distinctive traits of their homeland,” stated a representative from the RVIO. “The Origins forum unites roughly two hundred participants from across Russia, and the historical education of the younger generation is crucial for the nation’s ongoing development.” First Vice-President Alexandra Konovchenko emphasized the role of in-depth historical education in shaping society’s trajectory.
Throughout the event, attendees can expect a robust schedule featuring lectures and seminars on historical topics, practical workshops, and master classes addressing cyber law and information security. The venue is the educational center, the core infrastructure of the year-round youth historical and cultural hub Istoki. In addition to formal programming, participants will enjoy a rich array of cultural activities and guided excursions to the primary sights of the Pskov region.
Beyond the sessions, the forum seeks to foster enduring moral and civic values, strengthen cultural identities, and build youth communities centered on patriotic education. It also promotes innovative approaches to learning and emphasizes the importance of understanding one’s family history as a foundation for personal and collective identity.
