Nearly 29 percent of Russians traditionally tackle home repairs before the New Year, allocating up to 200 thousand rubles for the projects. This finding comes from a study conducted by the online hypermarket VseInstrumenty.ru and reported by the editors of Socialbites.ca.

In the weeks leading up to the holidays, many households replace furniture and major appliances, refresh room decor, and carry out cosmetic renovations. Across many homes, windows and doors are updated as part of the seasonal upgrade trend.

Respondents cited limited time during the year as the primary driver for renovating over the holidays. A number also view the new year as an opportunity to begin with a fresh, clean start, setting a positive tone for the months ahead.

Financial patterns emerged from the survey: more than half of participants invested between 170 and 200 thousand rubles in repairs, while 21 percent spent up to 50 thousand rubles. Remarkably, 70 percent reported they managed to reduce material costs versus what they had planned.

Nevertheless, about 29 percent of Russians noted that winter work often prevents completing all intended tasks before the New Year. The survey gathered responses from over 1,500 residents spanning various regions of the country.

Prior to these findings, there was a trend toward heightened activity in selling inherited properties. Analysts observed that Russians were more inclined to move property on the market when the calendar tipped toward year-end.

Overall, the public discussion in the run-up to the New Year reveals a strong tradition of preparing living spaces for a fresh start, with practical budgets and strategic timing shaping the renovation choices. (Source: VseInstrumenty.ru, as reported by Socialbites.ca)
