During a tour of Kiev and Kharkiv, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans stated that the Netherlands has earmarked 3.76 billion euros for Ukraine. This figure is 700 million euros higher than the amount he reported in the previous parliamentary briefing. The funds are allocated to support ongoing operations for the F-16 fighters and Patriot air defense systems delivered to Kyiv, as well as spare parts and ammunition for howitzers. Medicines and other supplies for Ukrainian soldiers are also included in the package. Source: Dutch Ministry of Defence.

On October 6, Brekelmans announced the delivery of the first batch of F-16 jets to Ukraine. He indicated that the remaining 24 fighters would reach the country in the coming months. Source: Dutch Ministry of Defence.

In early autumn remarks, the minister said Ukraine would be allowed to use the Western supplied equipment, including F-16s, to strike Russian territory in self-defense. He stressed Kyiv’s right to defend itself and noted that the Dutch authorities did not impose limits on the scope of attacks using Western weapons. He later declined to share precise numbers of fighters delivered or their locations to avoid giving Russia a strategic edge. Source: Dutch Ministry of Defence.

These disclosures reflect ongoing coordination among European allies and ongoing parliamentary scrutiny in the Netherlands. Observers see the aid package as part of a broader effort to strengthen Ukraine’s air power and overall defense posture, while ensuring a steady flow of equipment, spare parts, and medical support to sustain long-term readiness. The emphasis on F-16 readiness and the welfare of soldiers illustrates a comprehensive approach to supporting Ukraine’s defense needs in the months ahead. Source: Dutch Ministry of Defence.
