The director of FGBI Leopard Land noted a striking surge in visitors to Primorye’s protected areas, with the Leopard Land nature conservation directorate recording a fourfold increase in 2022. This observation comes from DEA News reporting.

Last year, nearly 130,000 people explored the Leopard Land, driven by a combination of special events and ongoing infrastructure improvements designed to make the reserve more accessible and welcoming to travelers seeking nature experiences.

Looking ahead, officials stressed plans to broaden tourism offerings within the institution’s protected zones. Among the initiatives is the development of new areas for visitors, including cave exploration experiences that showcase the region2;s unique subterranean landscapes. The goal is to create a broader, year-round itinerary that appeals to different interest groups while preserving the natural habitat.

As part of this expansion, the administration highlighted the revival of a historical route focused on underwater discoveries. The pausing and reintroduction of an existing program will be executed in partnership with local dive centers to introduce diving opportunities in the marine segment of the reserve, particularly around the Bolshoi Pelis site on the island. This direction mirrors a renewed interest in marine life and subaqueous ecosystems, with the route previously showcased at a major exhibition in Moscow and drawing considerable attention from the intended audience.

In a related development, the national park announced the return of the Leo.Run Trail, a sporting event series, on its Telegram channel in March. The event is scheduled for June 10 and is expected to attract participants from various regions who share an enthusiasm for endurance challenges within protected landscapes.

The course for the race will thread near Barabash village, a locality known for the scenic Semiverstka area. The combination of race scenery and the region’s natural beauty aims to showcase the park’s commitment to sustainable recreation and environmental education while offering visitors a unique way to engage with Primorye2;s protected environments.
