In 2022, a substantial portion of laptop shipments to Russia came from brands that are widely recognized in the tech sector. MSI contributed 556 thousand units, Huawei delivered 428 thousand, and Lenovo accounted for 415 thousand devices. These figures reflect a broader assessment of the year’s laptop market in Russia, based on industry data from a major analytics firm.
Overall, the total number of laptops brought into Russia in 2022 reached 3.38 million, marking a decline of 29.6% compared with 2021. The year showed mixed momentum across brands: MSI increased its device shipments by about 16% year over year, Huawei grew by roughly 13%, and Lenovo expanded its shipments by around 12%. In this landscape, American brand HP, which led laptop deliveries to Russia in 2021 with about 1.1 million units, finished 2022 in a lower tier with around 377 thousand devices.
MSI has positioned itself in the market as a maker of high-performance gaming and content creation laptops, while the company also maintains a line of business-oriented notebooks designed for professional use. This diversification underscores MSI’s aim to serve both entertainment and enterprise segments, balancing consumer demand with enterprise-class reliability.
In the Russian distribution channel, the year 2023 began with a notable shift. Industry observers reported a stock overhang where more than one million unsold laptops were sitting in warehouses at the start of the year. This inventory buildup pointed to an adjusted supply chain and a potential recalibration of orders across distributors and retailers, as the market adapted to evolving demand patterns and macroeconomic conditions.
