The Kherson Region Industrial Development Fund unveiled plans to generate up to 900 new jobs each year, a target highlighted during a roundtable on regional development. The disclosure was reported by TASS, citing comments from the fund’s administrator, Mikhail Panchenko.
As of March 1 this year, the fund had received project proposals valued at 2 billion rubles. About 1.5 billion rubles of those proposals are designated as priority projects. The fund currently holds subsidies totaling 560 million rubles for the year. Panchenko noted that, if the applications are submitted with solid financial and economic justification, demand for concessional capital could be threefold higher than previously projected by that date, underscoring strong local interest in investment support.
Panchenko added that the anticipated creation of up to 900 jobs annually would primarily impact the agro-industrial, tourism, and engineering sectors within the region, signaling a broad-based approach to economic diversification and growth.
Earlier, Vladimir Saldo, the governor of the Kherson region, praised the tourism potential of the area. He highlighted the appeal of local attractions and the prospects for sustainable visitor growth, even as the regional context continues to evolve.
Feedback from visitors who previously spent holidays in Crimea in 2023 also reflected a positive sentiment about the regional offerings. The current discussions aim to build on that momentum, enhancing tourism infrastructure and experiences to attract more travelers and support local businesses.
