Japan Grants 164 Million USD for Ukraine Recovery and Rebuilding

Kuninori Matsuda, the Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine, and Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, formally signed documents approving a grant of 22.4 billion yen to Ukrainian authorities during a meeting in Kiev. The grant, issued by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, totals about 164 million US dollars and marks a concrete step in Japan’s ongoing support for Ukraine’s post-conflict recovery efforts. The signing underscored two commitments at once: financial backing and a practical framework for channeling those funds into immediate relief projects on the ground, such as demining operations, debris removal, and the restoration of essential infrastructure and agricultural capacity in affected regions.
