Airline iFly has canceled scheduled flights from Moscow to Egypt on December 23 and from Ufa to Egypt on December 24. The cancellation was announced by the international travel operator Tez Tour, cited by DEA News.
Tez Tour stated that iFly was compelled to cancel the trips to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh from Moscow on December 23 and from Ufa on December 24. The carrier cited operational reasons behind the disruption.
Tez Tour explained that Egypt export flights for tourists continue in a normal, planned mode. As of now, about 6 thousand travelers have already returned to Russia as part of the ongoing evacuation operations.
The tour operator noted that the partial pause in the carrier’s schedule will lead to forthcoming information on additional flight options and potential rearrangements for travelers.
Earlier on December 21, Tez Tour reported cancellations for December 22 flights to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh. Despite the schedule changes, export flights for tourists in Egypt were carried out according to the established plan. Roughly 4 thousand Russian tourists returned after delays in the Egypt evacuation flights.
Prior to these developments, the Federal Air Transport Agency reiterated iFly’s guidance advising travelers to avoid flights to Egypt amid the disruption.
