Florence’s city officials have elected not to raise the cap on apartments rented to visitors, according to Area. The discussion centers on short-term rentals in the city’s historic core.
The mayor, Dario Nardella, underscored that a significant number of residents have ended up living in buildings that resemble aparthotels, a situation many want resolved.
Officials note that landlords who attempt to rent housing to travelers now face fines of 5,000 euros. In addition, three-year tax incentives are being introduced for property owners who switch to long-term rentals, aiming to stabilize local housing and support permanent residents.
Earlier, Alexey Yatsyuk, a leading expert from TSN Real Estate, pointed out one of the common fraudulent schemes in the rental market involves asking for a down payment before showing an apartment. Yatsyuk advises prospective tenants to stay calm in their decision-making and remember that a truly legitimate landlord will not offer an excellent apartment at an unrealistically low price.
