FAS urges regional deals with egg producers to stabilize prices in multiple regions

The Federal Antimonopoly Service has urged regional authorities to reach agreements with egg producers to help stabilize chicken egg prices. This direction comes as a response to a ministry briefing and reflects ongoing efforts to curb price volatility in essential goods.

At interdepartmental meetings, regional FAS offices outlined recommendations for signing such agreements. The gatherings included representatives from large retail chains and egg producers, emphasizing a framework that aligns with the authority granted to sign deals aimed at price stabilization for basic commodities. The plan allows the setting of ceiling prices for these goods to prevent sharp spikes and ensure consumer access.

Across ten regions, agreements on price stability have already been signed. FAS monitors these accords to ensure they comply with antimonopoly laws and government regulations. The authorities noted early signs of price declines in several regions as the measures take effect.

Earlier reports indicated that the FAS pursued a legal case against certain egg producers in the Volgograd region, illustrating the agency’s readiness to enforce compliance in the sector.

In a broader economic context, the central bank has recently adjusted monetary policy, influencing financing conditions and consumer prices in the market for essentials.
