Pensioners in the Far North can receive financial compensation for trips to resort destinations in their own vehicles. A related decree was published on the government website.
To obtain this compensation, retirees must submit an application to the regional directorate of the Pension Fund and provide documents proving ownership of the car along with fuel receipts. Reimbursement will be issued every two years and financed from federal funds.
Previously, such benefits were available for travel by rail, river, sea, air, and bus transport. With this latest change, the government broadened the options for compensation for non-working citizens who receive old age or disability pensions.
On August 16, the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion, known as VTsIOM, reported that nearly 60 percent of working Russians are interested in earning additional income during retirement. About 37 percent said they do not need extra funds, while 6 percent could not answer the question. Men more frequently than women indicated a desire for extra financial resources, with 62 percent of men and 52 percent of women agreeing on the need.
The survey shows that half of the population expects to work after reaching retirement age if a viable source of income is available. About 42 percent wish to continue working in their professional field until then, and around 28 percent anticipate relying mainly on personal savings to cover expenses.
