The mining and chemical company EuroChem entered into a formal agreement with the government of the Murmansk region to support social and economic cooperation. The document commits EuroChem’s Kovdor Mining and Processing Plant to allocate one billion rubles over the next three years to help stabilize and enrich the Kovdor community’s socio-economic landscape.
The signing ceremony occurred in Kovdor, aligning with the 60th anniversary of Kovdorsky GOK and the milestone birthday of EuroChem. Senior regional leadership and company executives attended to mark the moment and endorse the collaboration.
The parties agreed to join efforts to advance the city and elevate residents’ quality of life. The agreement outlines key priorities for Kovdor, including the provision of medical services, the upgrading of urban infrastructure, landscaping initiatives, sports, education, and vocational training, along with other social projects aimed at broad-based community welfare.
As a result of the accord, plans include constructing a new infectious disease department at the Kovdor hospital and launching a program to attract physicians in high-demand specialties. The city will also retire an unused nine-story Soviet-era building and Hyperborea Park is set for a comprehensive revitalization that will transform its appearance and usability.
Starting next year, under the Professionalism program, an educational and industrial cluster will operate at Kovdor Polytechnic College. The college will receive modernization, with upgraded facilities and the latest equipment to support advanced training and practical skills development for students and local employers alike.
Beyond the Kovdor projects, the agreement opens doors to additional promising avenues of social and economic collaboration, aligned with federal initiatives and state programs designed to strengthen regional development and community resilience.
The signature of the agreement was presented as a meaningful contribution to Kovdor residents, highlighting a shared commitment to long-term prosperity. Residents were able to participate in festival activities related to Hyperborea, including cultural showcases and community events, which complemented the broader program of development and celebration.
