The Russian government has drafted a plan to trial electronic business registration procedures. This initiative was reported by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation on its official website.

Under the proposed program, entrepreneurs in Russia would gain access to a holistic service labeled “Starting a Business Online.” The service bundles electronic business registration, the ability to obtain electronic signatures without in-person visits, and the option to open a bank account remotely. The aim is to streamline the process of launching a venture and managing its initial financial setup from a single digital platform.

The service will be available to individuals registering as individual entrepreneurs as well as to those who decide to form a limited liability company with a single founder, who would also serve as the sole executive authority. This structure ensures a streamlined governance model for solo ventures, aligning legal form with operational control from the outset.

Project officials noted that businesses could be registered remotely and begin using a current account on the day the registration is completed. This rapid onboarding is designed to minimize waiting times and reduce bureaucratic barriers for new entrants into the market.

The experiment is planned to run through March 1, 2025, with the start date to be confirmed by the Russian government. Officials emphasized that participation in the trial is voluntary, allowing businesses to opt in and experience the online registration flow before any wider rollout.

Earlier information suggested that the Cabinet of Ministers intends to strengthen supervision of foreign operations conducted by Russian companies. This anticipated tightening will likely influence how domestic firms manage cross-border activities and related regulatory compliance as the digital registration program evolves.
