During the Russia-China energy business forum opening in Beijing, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) outlined its latest advances in equipment manufacturing as well as digital solutions designed to optimize production processes. This information was provided by the Rosneft press service, a co-organizer of the event, which highlighted CNPC’s emphasis on integrating industrial equipment with digital technology to improve efficiency across oil and gas operations.

Inside CNPC’s Engineering and Technological Research Institute, attendees were presented with production lines dedicated to tools, devices, and a range of equipment used in energy projects. The demonstrations showcased the practical capabilities of CNPC’s manufacturing footprint and its potential to support large-scale Russian-Chinese energy endeavors.

Kunlun Digital Technology Company, a subsidiary of CNPC, introduced participants to cutting-edge progress in making oil and gas fields smarter. The company illustrated how digitalization can streamline operations through the entire production chain, while also addressing industrial safety through advanced analytics and automated monitoring systems.

A technical tour for forum guests took place at the pilot industrial site belonging to the Low Carbon Development Research Institute, part of CHN Energy Corporation. There, researchers shared clean-coal technologies and developments in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). Chinese scientists demonstrated experimental and pilot facilities that explore the production of alternative fuels and the creation of new materials, underscoring a joint focus on reducing emissions and advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Rosneft provided a summary of the roundtable sessions held during the forum. In a discussion organized by the People’s University of China, participants delved into topics surrounding energy security and the ongoing transformation of energy systems, highlighting the strategic importance of stable and resilient energy partnerships.

In another roundtable led by CNNC, experts examined the role of information technology in advancing digital nuclear energy, using joint Russian-Chinese projects as a practical framework for IT-enabled developments in the nuclear sector.

Representatives from the China Coal Engineering and Technology Project (CCTEG) discussed collaboration in Russia-China coal development, focusing on new technologies for coal mining and the safe, efficient use of coal resources in the context of rapid energy transition. The dialogue emphasized cleaner extraction processes and improved processing methods to enhance overall sector safety and productivity.

Across the forum, roughly 500 professionals attended the events. The participant mix included government officials, senior representatives from major Russian and Chinese companies across multiple sectors, researchers, academics, and industry analysts, all contributing to a comprehensive exchange on energy strategies and collaborative opportunities.
