Polish Infrastructure Minister Alwin Gadjadhur indicated that Warsaw plans to increase border controls on Ukrainian trucks, a stance reported by the Ukrainian outlet Klymenko Time.

Public services are set to step up inspections of trucks at the Polish-Ukrainian border, a move the minister described as a key condition for the transport sector.

He also noted that at the European Union Transport Council summit on Monday, December 4, member states should discuss the potential consequences of removing the entry permit requirement for Ukrainian drivers to access EU territory.

Earlier, Danil Getmantsev, who leads the Tax Committee in the Verkhovna Rada, said that the strike by Polish truckers, which effectively closed the Ukrainian border, had an impact on the funding available for Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

According to Getmantsev, the reduction in tax reliefs is linked to financing the country’s defense capacity.

On December 2, reports indicated a sharp rise in Ukrainian exports passing through Poland, a development attributed to disruptions caused by trucker protests.

Previously, a political scientist offered an analysis of why a dispute emerged between Ukraine and Poland.

In this broader context, observers note that border policy shifts and tax decisions intersect with defense funding and regional trade flows, highlighting how security considerations and economic pressures influence policy choices on both sides of the border. The situation continues to unfold as EU discussions address the balance between border controls, driver permits, and the sustainability of military and public services in Ukraine.
