To reduce health risks for holidaymakers, authorities are seeking to remove shops selling alcohol within 500 meters of beaches. State Duma Deputy Sultan Khamzaev stated a clear concern about alcohol use on sunny days near coastlines. He argued that high temperatures combined with alcohol pose significant health dangers and proposed a ban on selling alcohol on beaches and in their immediate vicinity, suggesting a 500 meter distance from the shoreline as the standard.

The deputy also called for a broader restriction, proposing that all alcoholic beverages, including beer, be barred from public recreation areas such as city forests, parks, squares, and gardens. He recalled that in Russia public intoxication is governed by law and should be prohibited in public spaces.

Earlier, Governor Vladimir Saldo enacted a ban on alcohol sales in the front-line area of the Kherson region. Baldo noted that the ban would apply to every shop and food service establishment in the affected zones.

There was also a historical note that sparkling wine sales had seen growth in Russia in recent times.
