In Moscow’s center, authorities detained Karen Vanetsyan, the owner of the Oleyna brand, who had been on Armenia’s wanted list. The information emerged through a Telegram channel known as 112, which reported the capture on Arbat Street.
According to the report, Vanetsyan leads the Exoil Group holding and was sought by Armenian authorities for alleged money laundering tied to the abuse of official authority. The allegations claim he accepted property valued at 35 million dollars to be used illegally, and he was placed under arrest as a result.
During questioning by police, the detained businessman indicated that he had acquired ownership of the Oleyna brand about a year prior. He stated that he resided in the Lipetsk region and was not currently employed by the company.
The Telegram channel further claimed that Karen Vanetsyan’s brother, Arthur, previously served as the director of Armenia’s National Security Service, adding a layer of context to the unfolding story.
Oleyna is connected to a former Russian subsidiary of the American agricultural trader Bunge, which is known for producing Oleina oil in the market. The ownership transition reportedly occurred around a year ago, with Vanetsyan holding a 100 percent share in the company and the authorized capital standing at 1.3 billion rubles.
Earlier, authorities in the Moscow region also detained another high-ranking official, the Deputy Minister of Health, in a separate case that drew attention to a series of investigations involving notable figures and business interests.
The sequence of events highlights ongoing attention to financial practices and regulatory compliance across the region, drawing public interest from observers who track business leadership and governmental oversight in Armenia and neighboring areas. The unfolding situation remains under active inquiry as investigators seek to establish the facts surrounding the alleged misuse of official authority and the related property transfers.
