More than half (59%) of Russians surveyed said they do not have enough comfort and services for longer trips around the country. 19% stated that there is a shortage of quality hotels; The majority of respondents were between the ages of 35 and 50. This follows from a survey conducted by DOM.RF Bank jointly with the Financial University (results are in socialbites.ca).

The most pronounced dissatisfaction with the service was expressed by Russians aged 26-35. Despite the popularity of the all-inclusive format abroad, only 5% of respondents think it is necessary for domestic tourism.

Among other obstacles to the development of domestic tourism, Russians cited the lack of transport links (41%), the lack of beach holidays in winter (26%) and the lack of attractions for children (18%).

Leading researcher at the Financial University Yulia Gryzenkova added that the lack of information about resorts and attractions in Russia also affects the choice of travel.

At the same time, natural beauty remains the main reason for travel; More than 41% of survey respondents state this. Although road trips are popular among the 18-25 age group, young people also prefer places with beautiful views. Overall, 30% of respondents prefer road trips, 25% are interested in beaches, 20% are interested in sightseeing, and 19% are interested in historical sites.

“Russians’ preferences are also reflected in their tendency to invest in tourism infrastructure. Therefore, in 2024, investors will mostly invest in the creation of high-star country hotels (four to five stars) in beautiful natural areas,” said Anna Malikova, head of the Tourism department of DOM.RF Bank.
