Analysts from the Institute for Agricultural Market Research (IKAR) reduced the forecast for the wheat harvest in Russia in 2024 by 1.6 million tons. This is what they write about RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the head of the organization, Dmitry Rylko.
The previous estimate was 83.8 million tonnes, while the new estimate is 82.2 million tonnes, he said. According to Rylko, the revision of the forecast is due to adverse weather conditions in some regions of Russia. Thus, crops in the Volga region, the Urals and Siberia faced prolonged rainfall, while southern regions were affected by drought.
In this context, ICAR experts reduced their estimates for the 2024 barley harvest in Russia by 400 thousand tons to 16.8 million, and reduced the corn harvest by 1.1 million tons to 12 million.
Rylko recalled that a total of 144.9 million tons of grain was harvested in the country by the end of 2023, 92.8 million tons of which were wheat. Thus, it is predicted that the wheat harvest in the Russian Federation in 2024 may decrease by a total of 10.6 million tons.
This is the third revision of the year’s harvest estimate. The last time was by ICAR guess 81.5 million tons of wheat will be harvested in the Russian Federation in 2024.
It was before named Top 5 grain buyers from Russia.
