The safest area of Moscow for drivers is Vostochny, Rariteco development manager Ekaterina Borisova told socialbites.ca after analyzing traffic police statistics.
In the first six months, there were only two accidents in the Eastern region, followed by Vnukovo in the west (three accidents), Metrogorodok in the east (five accidents) and Savelki in Zelenograd (six accidents).
“The leaders in terms of safety in the historic center of Moscow are the Krasnoselsky district (18 accidents), Meshchansky and Zamoskvorechye (20 accidents each). Data for 2023 shows a similar trend. In Zamoskvorechye, 45 fatal traffic accidents were recorded during the year, one of the lowest figures among the districts of the center, second only to Krasnoselsky (32) and Yakimanka (36),” Borisova said.
He explained that safe zones have a dense road network, but traffic is relatively low and speeding is rarely reported.
More than 3.5 thousand accidents involving injuries have occurred in Moscow in the past six months. The most accident-prone areas of the capital include Presnensky in the centre (82 accidents), Vykhino-Zhulebino in the south-east (61 accidents) and Strogino in the north-west (60 accidents).
