Scotch whisky took the bulk of supplies, with Russia spending €14.2 million on purchases in the first month of summer, while European bourbon came in second with €1.2 million.
The main European supplier of whisky to the Russian Federation in June was Latvia, with supplies from that country rising by 14% to €13.3 million. Italy increased its whisky exports to Russia in June by 87 times, to €1.8 million.
Before this, the Russian government raised Import duties on alcohol from unfriendly countries. The customs value rate for whiskey, vermouth, gin, vodka, liqueurs and alcoholic tinctures has been increased to 20 percent.
