Uniper and RWE received a letter from Gazprom about force majeure regarding gas supply

German energy concerns Uniper and RWE received letters from Gazprom about force majeure for gas supplies, reports Reuters.

According to the agency, RWE declined to comment on details or the company’s legal position.

It was previously reported that the German energy concern Uniper. received A letter from “Gazprom” about force majeure for gas supply.

The company found this statement unreasonable and officially denied the force majeure claim.

Prior to this, Uniper had started drawing gas from its storage facilities and notified consumers of a possible price increase. According to available information, the company took such measures against the backdrop of a reduction in gas supply from Russia.

Also on July 18, Uniper made full use of its existing €2 billion KfW line of credit and applied for an extension. Negotiations on stabilization measures are currently ongoing between the German government and Uniper. Their expiration date is not specified.
