The start of sales of Evolute electric vehicles in Russia is scheduled for the fall of 2022, informs portal “Chinese cars”. According to the company “Motorinvest” took up the implementation of this project, the distribution of cars was initially carried out in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar and Sochi. The dealers in the same provinces will perform the service and warranty maintenance of the machines.

China or Russia

The name Evolute was invented in Russia and made public only after the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. played private investment contracts (SPIC) for the promotion of environmentally friendly city cars on a competitive basis.

Never before has the Ministry implemented such a simplified procedure with a low threshold of entry into SPIC agreements.

Domains containing various variations of the Evolute name were registered or acquired by Motorinvest between February and May 2022, immediately after the ministry’s competition results were announced from the Unified Domain Name Registry. Before that, Motrinvest did not manufacture electric vehicles, at this stage it is not related to the production of its own models,

but it only concerns the assembly of electric vehicles of the Chinese auto company Dongfeng (and its subsidiary brand Seres), whose nameplates will be replaced by “Evolute” in Russia.

The level of localization using Russian components is not specified. The line of the new Russian automobile company is expected to include five Chinese cars: three crossovers, a sedan and a minivan,

and three of them will go on sale before the end of this year.

What to collect

In May of this year, several Evolute cars sent At an exhibition in Moscow.

The first new model for Russia should be the Evolute i-JOY crossover, called Seres 3 or DFSK Glory E3 in export markets.

In size, the electric car is comparable to the Hyundai Creta SUV.

The Seres 3 electric crossover was exported to Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Turkey, where it was offered for €35,000. The manufacturer did not report sales volume.

According to the technical data presented on the website of the Chinese manufacturer DFSK, the car is equipped with a power plant with a capacity of 120 kW (163 hp) and a torque of 300 Nm. Traction is transmitted only to the front wheels.

Seres 3 is capable of accelerating to 150 km / h, it takes 8.9 seconds to accelerate to “hundreds”.

The 53 kWh battery allows the Seres 3 driver to travel up to 405 km on a single charge according to the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) cycle. A special charging station charges the battery up to 80% in half an hour, and a regular plug in 8 hours.

The passage is designed for five passengers. The front seats are heated as standard, and the driver’s seat can also be adjusted electrically. The driver gets a sporty leather multifunction steering wheel with a bevel at the bottom, a digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with 360° visibility when parking and wireless smartphone charging. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not supported by the multimedia system.

By default, 6 airbags are responsible for safety. Various systems assist the driver, including uphill and downhill assist as well as cruise control. As standard, the car offers three driving modes (normal, eco-friendly and sporty).

Another model introduced in Moscow was the i-PRO sedan, a copy of the 2020 Chinese model Dongfeng Aeolus E70, whose platform was created together with PSA (Peugeot Citroën).

The overall dimensions of the sedan are similar to the Kia Cerato.

In China, the car is offered with a choice of two power plants – 165 hp. and 150 hp Depending on the configuration, the battery allows you to drive between 330 and 430 km.

A feature of the interior was a panel protruding above the instrument panel, combining instrument panel displays and multimedia. The cost of a sedan in China starts at 133 thousand yuan.

As for other models, the i-VAN minivan will be a “clone” of Dongfeng LingZhi EV, the Free crossover will receive the Voyah Free design and the i-JET SUV will try it in the guise of Seres SF5.

Litigation and threat of bankruptcy

The launch of Evolute should begin at the location of Motorinvest in the industrial park “Rozhdestvo” in the Lipetsk region. SPIC . As the company previously reported, the declared investments of Motorinvest exceed 13 billion rubles, it is planned to produce more than 240 thousand cars in 11 years.

At the same time, the Motorinvest Factory has been idle for at least the last three years. According to the SPARK Interfax database,

In 2021, the company received a loss of 202 million rubles on revenue of 20 million rubles.

Since 2016, Changan crossovers have been assembled with a screwdriver at Motorinvest, until the conveyor was stopped in 2019 due to problems with the financial stability of the enterprise, said old socialbites.ca.

According to an excerpt from the Arbitration Case File Index, in early spring 2021, Galreakhim, a Moscow Region company that sells galvanic additives used in the anti-corrosion treatment of bodies in the automotive industry, filed a lawsuit with the Arbitration Court to declare Motorinvest bankrupt. Lipetsk Region. then plant managed avoid initiating the bankruptcy procedure of a legal entity by closing debts.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Motorinvest LLC has been committed to Centrocredit Bank since January 30, 2020, the pledgee is the five owners of the plant, including Andrey Reznikov, founder of Motorinvest (0.1% stake). 2021 was the main owner. by his father data Vedomosti founded the now bankrupt company Irito. Since 2005, the latter is the official distributor and manufacturer of Great Wall cars in the Russian Federation.

In 2016, the Great Wall of China appealed to the Moscow Arbitration Court, seeking to recover $50 million from Irito for delivered car kits. The court rejected Great Wall’s argument, arguing that the contracts were not concluded directly with Irito, but with other previously bankrupt entities.

In 2017, a fraud case was filed in relation to this proceeding,

and two years later, the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation appealed to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev and the Deputy Prosecutor General with a request to take personal control of this case, knowledgeable “Kommersan”. Business Ombudsman Boris Titov made a similar request to the Moscow region prosecutor in 2019. The status of the investigation is currently unknown.

Since July of this year, Motorinvest has changed its CEO, according to legal documents, this position is occupied by Andrey Khanin. it is remarkable that

Alexander Morozov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, whose responsibilities include the automotive industry and the direct signing of SPIKs, Left ministry in May this year.

Auto industry experts do not appreciate the prospects for the implementation of this project.

“Unfortunately, the train of ships from the Great Wall and this long-standing story create an uncertain reputation for the owners. I hope this does not prevent them from fulfilling their obligations under SPIC.

However, the E-NEVA project from the Almaz-Antey defense concern appears to be a much more integral, promising, well-developed and fundamental solution for the development of electric transport in Russia than the Evolute project.”

– the independent consultant of the automotive industry Sergei Burgazliev says in an interview with “socialbites.ca”.

The source explains that the plant in Lipetsk can operate in SKD mode in accordance with the signed SPIC as part of technological operations for the first two or three years.

“It’s just an assembly line right now. “I believe the project is being considered as a pilot project to roll back the subsidy mechanism and electric car distribution,” he said.

The expert believes that if the average price of a car is from 3 million to 3.5 million rubles, then with 20-25 dealers it will be possible to sell several thousand electric vehicles per year. If the price is around 5-6 million, large sales volumes cannot be achieved.

With a staff of 25 people (according to the SPARK database), according to open recruitment databases for recruitment (including the company’s website), the plant in Lipetsk needs electricians and locksmiths. At the same time, representatives of Motorinvest claimed that about 2,000 jobs will be created for the production of Evolute.

According to the terms of the preferential car loan program announced in July, Evolute electric cars will have a 35% reduction in cost, but not exceeding 925 thousand rubles, announced minpromtorg.

Vesti FM radio columnist Igor Morzharetto believes that the field of electric passenger cars should be developed in Russia and there is no choice but to cooperate with China.

“But to date, the Evolute project is still incomprehensible and there is very little information.

I’ve never even heard of these cars being certified.

There are always doubts. But in this case there is hope as the Ministry of Industry and Trade has made it clear that it will provide all possible support to the project,” Morzharetto added.

socialbites.ca contacted the press service of the Evolute brand with questions about the production of cars and the details of the project, but the company did not give a quick response.

In the autumn, the sale of Chinese cars of the new Evolute brand should begin in Russia, where it is planned to be assembled at the Russian company Motorinvest in Lipetsk. This factory almost went bankrupt, all the shares of its owners were pledged to the bank. With losses of 202 million rubles and billions of dollars in litigation in arbitration courts, this company managed to win the competition of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and promised to establish a full-fledged dealer network. socialbites.ca asked market experts: “Is there any chance for the implementation of this project?”
