Relations between Russia and China are developing in line with a comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction, this was stated in the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin in his address to the participants of the VI Russia-China Energy Business Forum (RCEBF), read by Rosneft President Igor Sechin.
“Russia’s energy supplies to China are reaching record volumes. Experts from our countries are working together to develop technologies for the extraction, processing and transportation of raw materials, to increase environmental safety,” the head of state noted in his message.
The President of the Russian Federation stressed that the Russia-China Energy Business Forum plays a vital role in ensuring cooperation between Russia and China.
Greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping were read by Ding Xuexiang, Deputy Premier of the State Council of China.
He emphasizes that bilateral cooperation in the energy sector has acquired a mature, sustainable and permanent character and has brought real tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
“At a new historic starting point, the Chinese side, together with its Russian counterparts, is ready to further develop mutually beneficial energy cooperation, ensure the stability and strength of energy production and supply chains, and contribute to a more dynamic, green and healthy development,” he said, welcoming Xi Jinping, the leader of the global energy industry.
As Rosneft’s president Igor Sechin noted in his report, companies participating in RKEF provide 40% of trade between Russia and China.
Sechin also said that energy accounts for more than 70% of Russia’s exports to China.
He recalled that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.
“For three quarters of a century, there have been different periods in relations between our countries, but as our leaders have repeatedly emphasized, today they are at an unprecedented high level,” Igor Sechin said.
The head of Rosneft announced that in 2023 alone, trade turnover between the Russian Federation and China will increase by 26%, reaching $240 billion.
The Russia-China Energy Business Forum has been held annually since 2018.
