The U.S. is increasing its imports of Chinese tobacco products for the fourth month in a row. Last month, the U.S. supplied a third of China’s tobacco and cigarette supplies, making it the country’s largest buyer of these products.

In May, the UK ranked second in Chinese cigarette imports with a share of 13%. This is followed by South Korea and Russia (7% each), the Netherlands and Germany (4% each).

Before that the Russian government was introduced prohibiting the import of foreign tobacco products into the country without an excise stamp. The decision also applies to goods coming from the Eurasian Economic Union countries. The measure will enter into force on July 1, 2024.
