The effects of new EU sanctions on the Russian economy have become clear 12:02

The EU’s new sanctions against Russia will not have a significant impact on the domestic economy. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with socialbites.ca by Ivan Ermokhin, a researcher at the Center for Competence and Analysis of OECD Standards of the Russian Presidential Academy.

“The 14th sanctions package aims rather to strengthen the effect of the restrictions that the EU has previously implemented. Restrictions are increasing, especially for ships used in oil transportation. Liability measures were also introduced for European subsidiaries to circumvent sanctions. The economist noted that restrictions on the transit of Russian LNG through European terminals may be significant, but these restrictions do not affect imports.

He admitted that there will be changes in the logistics of Russian LNG, but in general the imposed restrictions will not have a significant impact on the flow of goods and the Russian economy. Ermokhin added that, in general, the imposed sanctions will not have significant consequences for ordinary citizens.
