An unplanned devaluation and emission of hryvnia may occur in Ukraine. This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy Daniil Getmantsev in an interview with the Ukrainian publication Telegraph.
“Another one of the bad ones [решений] – Devaluation of the hryvnia above plan. And perhaps the worst thing is the hryvnia issue <...> I would say this is a last resort solution,” Getmantsev said.
According to him, such scenarios are possible, but Ukrainian authorities will “avoid them in every possible way.”
The people’s representative also called for a reduction in budget expenditures, among other possible unwelcome decisions of the authorities. At the same time, he noted that there was “nothing to cut” in the Ukrainian budget.
He added that it might be possible to obtain several billion hryvnias in this way, while Ukraine needs hundreds of billions.
