Despite calls from lawmakers to sever ties with Russia, the German state gas company SEFE (a former subsidiary of Gazprom nationalized by the German government – socialbites.ca note) plans to continue fulfilling existing contracts for the supply of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG). ). In an interview with Bloomberg on this subject stated SEFE commercial director Frederic Barnot.
According to him, the contract for the purchase of gas from the Yamal LNG project is old and the company is obliged to fulfill it.
“This is a contract and we must respect it,” Barno said, adding that SEFE would not enter into new agreements for Russian LNG.
At the same time, SEFE remains open to the possibility of selling or terminating both the Yamal LNG contract and gas supplies to its key customer GAIL India.
“But for now, we believe it is best to manage this complex portfolio ourselves,” Barno said.
Until then Ukraine continues to call customers to store gas in their own area.
