Italy supports extending duty-free imports of goods from Ukraine for another year. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida, following the results of the EU Council of Agriculture Ministers in Brussels. RIA News.
“Today we confirmed to the Ukrainian minister of agriculture our support for his case, but there are also balancing issues that need to be resolved to protect our farmers,” Lollobrigida told reporters.
Belgium, which holds the presidency of the EU Council, hopes to soon approve the European Commission’s new proposal to expand duty-free food imports from Ukraine to the EU, Belgian Minister David Clarinval said.
According to Lollobrigida, the Italian side has met with representatives of France, Greece, Croatia, Spain and other countries in recent days to discuss a common position.
