EC examines the impact of fertilizer imports from Russia on the EU market

The European Commission is trying to examine the impact of grain and fertilizer imports from Russia and aims to assess the need for action. This was stated by EC representative Olaf Gill at a press conference in Brussels. TASS.

“We follow the facts carefully, we follow how these products affect the flow, our market and our farmers. “We will continue to monitor, if the facts show that further steps are needed, then we will evaluate them,” Gill said.

Viktoras Pranckietis, formerly chairman of the Rural Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Parliament called Sejm countries will apply to the European Commission with a proposal to ban grain imports and transit from the Russian Federation at the European level.

Latvian Transport Minister Kaspars Briškens in January called for a ban Transit and import of grain from Russia. At the same time, he noted that the functioning of Latvian ports and railways largely depends on the transportation of Russian goods.

Previously Bulgaria requested to enter Quotas for imports of Ukrainian grain to Europe.
