In Russia, women’s salary expectations were 42% lower than men by the end of 2023. The newspaper reports this “News” referencing data from a March study by recruiting platform HeadHunter (HH).
The service’s researchers found that Russian women’s salary expectations last year were on average 23 thousand rubles lower than men’s.
Experts noted the maximum wage difference in the fields of raw material extraction, consultancy, agriculture, medicine and IT. Analysts agreed that one of the main reasons for this difference is women’s less focus on career development and the need to combine home and work responsibilities.
At the same time, the gap in salary expectations with men was greater among older Russian women than among younger girls. Thus, women in the category of 41 to 50 years old demand from employers an average of 38 thousand rubles less than men of the same age. Experts concluded that young girls aged 14-18 expect salaries 5 thousand lower than their peers.
Previously in Russia the length of the working day showed record growth.
