Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin abolished the organizing committee tasked with preparing Russia’s participation in the EXPO 2025 world exhibition in Japan. The relevant order was published on: Web site Official publication of legal regulations.

There it is stated: “Remove the organizing committee to prepare the Russian exhibition and ensure the participation of the Russian Federation in the World Universal Exhibition EXPO 2025.”

The exhibition is planned to be held in Osaka from April to October 2025; Moscow has not yet officially announced its refusal to participate in the fair.

Right to host the EXPO 2025 Osaka world exhibition accepted In November 2018, the Russian city of Yekaterinburg lost in the second round of voting. Paris, Osaka, Yekaterinburg and Baku competed for the right to host the exhibition. Osaka hosted EXPO in 1970, and the exhibition was held in Nagoya, Japan, in 2005.

Russia, which has been involved in the world exhibition movement since 1851, has not organized any EXPO to date. In 2013, Ekaterinburg applied to host EXPO 2020, but Dubai later won the competition.
