From January 15, 2024, mandatory labeling of alcoholic products in Russia applies to all types of packaging for beer and low-alcohol beverages, including aluminum cans. This was reported by Interfax.
Previously, labeling already applied to beverages in kegs, glass and plastic bottles. Tap sales have now become mandatory. From January 15, stores and other businesses selling draft beer must transfer data on equipment connection and sales volumes to the labeling system through cash registers.
According to information from the operator of the “Honest Sign” system, more than 54.5 thousand retail market participants selling beer on draft are currently registered in the state labeling system. They confirmed that they were ready for a new marking phase.
The introduction of labeling and traceability of beer products will be phased in by 2025. The next step will be to ban the sale of draft beer without a labeling code as of April 1, 2024.
According to Kirill Volkov, head of the CRPT’s special consumer goods department, an increase of 20.8% is currently being recorded in the legal production of beer and low-alcohol beverages. Similar positive dynamics are expected to occur in the entire supply chain after sales traceability comes into play.
Russia has introduced mandatory labeling of beer and low-alcohol products as of March 1, 2023. Manufacturers were required to register with the Honest Sign system. Labeling of beers on kegs began on April 1, and on glass and plastic on October 1.
Valentina Matvienko in early December suggested Imposition of a special excise tax on medicinal alcohol.
Previously in Russia offered Banning the sale of non-alcoholic beer to young people.
