Iraq plans to stop importing petroleum products in 2024. This was stated by RIA News Official representative of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Assem Jihad.

Cihad said that in 2024, the country will rely more on local production, and after the start of production in some oil refineries, there will be a decrease in imports of petroleum products until they stop completely.

Iraq currently imports petroleum products, including improved gasoline, to fill the gap in the domestic market. Iraq has the world’s third largest proven hydrocarbon reserves. The country, which has the world’s second largest proven oil reserves (112 billion barrels), is one of the world’s leading oil states.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in December named India and China are Moscow’s main partners in the supply of oil and oil products.
