Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov said that the damage resulting from restrictions on land passage to the Kaliningrad region via Lithuania has reached almost 2 billion rubles a year. This was reported by RIA News.
Accordingly, damage can be calculated in different ways. For example, one of its components is the amount of subsidies paid by the federal budget to make sea line tariffs more affordable for the region. The governor emphasized that this year approximately 2 billion rubles have been allocated for this purpose.
He added that the damage could also include additional costs, including restrictions on Kaliningrad transport companies carrying out road transport and providing transit services. Alikhanov added that the amount of work they do has decreased.
According to him, the authorities of the Kaliningrad region sent the calculations to the Ministry of Economic Development, but the claim in the WTO has “potentially little chance” at the moment.
Before that Alikhanov reported about the difficult situation in the passage of cars from the region to Lithuania.
