They launched the first production line of chip packaging, one of Troika’s core production processes, at the Micron Security Printing facility at the Technopolis Moscow SEZ (Zelenograd – ed.). <…> The first thousand “Troikas” with such a chip have already been produced and delivered to the metro for testing, the mayor said.
According to Sobyanin, a fully Russian next-generation chip will be added to Troika cards as part of the next phase. Memory capacity will be three times larger than now. This will increase the functionality of the card. Sobyanin announced that the next generation chip cards are planned to be released next year. The mayor emphasized that the technology prevailing in Zelenograd is also suitable for the production of Muscovite cards, foreign passports and other documents with embedded electronic storage media.
