Red Wings Airlines has received an airworthy Il-96-400T cargo aircraft from United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) with tail number RA-96103. This was reported by RBC With reference to sources.
It was announced that the aircraft in question was the first of 11 aircraft that UAC was assigned to restore in 2022.
As one RBC source noted, Red Wings took delivery of the plane two weeks ago. According to him, the aircraft will be operated by cargo airline Sky Gates Airlines, which will also be responsible for the maintenance of the aircraft. Red Wnigs acquired Sky Gates this summer. A representative of the leasing company Ilyushin Finance (part of UAC) told RBC that the transfer of the aircraft is already underway.
According to the Russianplanes.net portal, the aircraft number RA-96103 was built by the Voronezh Joint-Stock Aircraft Manufacturing Company (VASO) in 2009. The ship made its first flight in September 2009. Previously, the aircraft was flying with Polet Airlines, which ceased existence in 2013. The ship’s operator is now listed as Sky Gates. The aircraft resumed flights in August 2023, according to its website.
