According to the Governor of the Omsk Region Vitaly Khotsenko, investments in the construction of Omsk-Fedorovka airport, whose project is supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin, are estimated at about 43 billion rubles. This was reported by TASS.
In his budget message to the regional Legislative Assembly, Hotsenko also said that the construction of the new airport is planned to be completed by 2028.
The regional president noted that support was received for the project after the meeting with President Putin in August. The region is currently working with the federal Ministry of Transport on the draft order of the government of the Russian Federation. The total investment of the project will be approximately 43 billion rubles, and private investments will be 19.7 billion rubles. The governor expressed hope for the successful implementation of the project and stated the goal of completing the project by 2028.
At the end of 2021, the project committee of the transport part of the comprehensive plan for modernization and expansion of the main infrastructure (CPMI) recommended inclusion in the waiting list of the Omsk-Fedorovka airport project. This list includes properties that ranked but did not receive financing. At that time, the cost of the project was estimated at 36 billion rubles.
General Director Sergey Rudakov, who holds Novaport airport, stated that the company is interested in the Omsk-Fedorovka airport project, as Omsk is an important destination with a large passenger flow.
The main reason for building a new airport in Omsk is to ensure the safety of city residents. The operating Omsk-Tsentralny Airport is located almost within the city with a population of 1.2 million, and planes take off and land above the city center. Additionally, the existing airport limits construction possibilities in some urban areas.
