According to cheese producer Oleg Sirota, the main reason for the increase in prices is the increase in logistics and ingredient costs for cheese production. According to the expert, if in 2022 a kilogram of hard cheese costs 650-700 rubles, by the end of 2023 the price had already increased to 800 rubles. By the middle of next year the cost may reach 850-900 rubles per kilogram.
The price of select imported varieties such as Parmesan and Camembert will increase further. Already their cost is approaching 2 thousand rubles per kg. According to optimistic forecasts, cheese prices will increase by 15 percent by summer 2024.
“The price of a popular cheese plate consisting of 10 types of cheese is now around 500 rubles. By the new year, its price may reach 600 rubles,” predicts Oleg Sirota.
According to him, a 10-15 percent increase in prices under current conditions is an optimistic scenario. It cannot be ignored that the price of cheese in Russia will increase further in 2024.
