In the period January-October 2023, customs officials detected 3.3 million counterfeit products (UCP). This was reported by RIA News Head of the Department of Trade Restrictions, Currency and Export Control of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation Sergei Shklyaev.
As Shklyaev said, among the identified CCP were tobacco products bearing the trademark “Cosmos”, Marlboro, VT.
According to him, in 2022, customs officers detected 8.2 million counterfeit products, of which more than 434 thousand were tobacco products and included the trademarks Marlboro, Cosmos, Crown, Rodopi and Hostess.
He noted that more than 20 trademarks on tobacco products are registered and in force in the Customs Register, which belong to five copyright holders, including both Russian and foreign companies.
