Japanese cigarette production company Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has decided to continue its activities in Russia. This was announced by Sergey Glushkov, Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications of JTI Russia, he writes: TASS.
According to him, despite the decision to stay, JTI abandoned plans to introduce a new generation of tobacco heating devices to the Russian market.
JTI has four factories in Russia employing a total of 4,000 people. The company’s portfolio includes brands such as Winston, LD, Camel, Donskoy Tabak, Play and Peter I. On March 10, 2022, the company announced that it was suspending new investments and additional marketing activities in Russia.
Ukraine in September contributed Japan Tobacco International and the American company Philip Morris International were included in the list of “international war sponsors”. As NAPC explained, this decision was taken because these companies continue to operate in Russia and replenish its budget after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine.
