The Polish Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the court of first instance to annul the penalties imposed by the Polish Competition and Consumer Protection Agency (UOKiK) in 2020 on participants in the construction of Nord Stream 2, including Gazprom. The newspaper reported this Pulses Business.
According to the publication, UOKiK appealed the decision of the first instance court. In 2022, the Office took actions to impose fines on Gazprom and five companies (Engie Energy, Uniper, OMV, Shell and Wintershall). They were accused of creating a company responsible for the construction and operation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The judge rejected a fine of more than 29 billion zlotys ($7.2 billion) to Gazprom and more than 234 million zlotys (about $58 million) to other entities.
