Turkey aims to be an important country and gas base for Russian natural gas to reach world markets. This was stated by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, in a meeting with the President of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, during the G20 parliamentary summit.

Kurtulmuş said, “We already have good cooperation in the Balkans, Black Sea, Caucasus and Transcaucasia, but now we need to further intensify this cooperation, especially in the energy sector.” TASS.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, in his statement on September 15, said that there was no delay in the negotiations with Russia regarding the natural gas power plant. The minister announced that negotiations on the construction of the center were interrupted due to the earthquake and the presidential elections. However, the Ministry of Energy and other relevant units have now been instructed to continue working on this issue.

According to the agency, Moscow and Ankara cannot agree on who will manage the center. A broadcast source close to Gazprom confirmed the existence of this problem.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that the gas center is a priority project for Ankara.
According to him, Turkey expects to become a reliable gas supplier after the establishment of the center, although it is already a reliable partner for its neighbors.
