The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia aims to understand the reasons for the increase in fees in a number of tariffs of the MTS operator. In this respect reported inside the section.
FAS will send a corresponding request to MTS after subscribers receive notification about the increase in tariffs by 59 rubles. It was noted that discounts and options will continue. The FAS stressed that the regulator will take action if violations of anti-monopoly legislation are detected.
In July 2023, MTS lost in court the lawsuit against FAS. The Moscow Arbitration Court refused to invalidate the FAS decision on MTS’s violation of anti-monopoly rules by MTS. The court agreed with the ministry’s view that the company increased the cost of services by more than 20% in 2022, with inflation of 10.5%.
FAS at the beginning of September started Supervision of mobile operators who, in the opinion of the Ministry, violate anti-monopoly legislation. Security officials drew attention to complaints from subscribers who reported that companies began to charge fees for distributing mobile Internet through devices. If the violation is confirmed, operators will be given one month to eliminate the violations. If they fail to do so, the company may be fined ₽890 thousand.
