The vast majority of hoteliers (83%) in regions where there are still restrictions on the operation of airports have begun to reduce their room and meal prices in an influx of tourists. This is due to a survey of the Ostrovok.Ru online reservation service, the results of which were received by socialbites.ca.

Of these, 31% of respondents reduced the price by 5-10%. More than half (57%) reduced cost by 10-30%, while the other 5% of respondents reduced it by 30-50%. About 7% of respondents decided to cut the cost more than twice.

Other ways to attract tourists are to launch special offers and promotions. After the closure of the airports, 36% and 34% of the hoteliers started to use them more actively, respectively. About 15% of hoteliers increase occupancy through special offers for local residents. One in ten hoteliers provide transfers to tourists from the nearest open airport (9% of respondents).

52% of respondents reported a decrease in hotel occupancy rates after the closure of airports. Of these, 37% report a significant drop in bookings, with more than 20%. At the same time, a third (31%) of hoteliers in southern destinations do not notice a change in hotel occupancy rates after airport closures. 17% of respondents reported an increase in bookings.

The survey was conducted in August 2023. The meeting was attended by more than 150 hotel representatives from the Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Voronezh, Lipetsk and Rostov regions, as well as from the Republic of Crimea, which is subject to restrictions.
